Photographs taken and collected by Melissa Darby. The images depict the dedication ceremony at the John D. Kennedy School in Northeast Portland, Or. on June 12, 1916, including a portrait of John Daniel Kennedy, who sold the land for the school to the Portland Public Schools. There are also four 35mm film negative strips containing 24 negatives taken by Melissa Darby circa 1986 of the Nan Wood Honeyman residence at 1728 SW Prospect Drive in Portland.

Nan Wood Honeyman (July 15, 1881 – December 10, 1970) was an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she was the first woman elected to the United States Congress from Oregon in 1936, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1937 to 1939. Born Nan Wood in West Point, New York, she grew up in Portland, Oregon, attending private schools before graduating from St. Helen’s Hall in 1898.
